The Lost Wallet on the Bus

A first-person story about losing a wallet during a day trip and learning to ask for help.

Last Saturday I took a bus to the seaside town of Seaton because I wanted a quiet day away from the city. I sat by the window, listened to music, and watched the fields and small villages pass by.When I got off the bus, the air smelled of salt and the streets were already busy with tourists. I bought an ice cream and walked along the beach, taking photos of the colourful boats. To my horror it was not there, and I suddenly remembered paying for the ticket on the bus. At first I checked every pocket twice, but the only thing I found was a receipt and some coins. She listened carefully and suggested I call the bus company because drivers often find things at the end of a route. He told me a wallet had been handed in, but I needed to describe it before he could be sure it was mine. When I arrived, the driver recognised my name, gave me the wallet, and everything inside was still there. In fact, I realised that staying calm and asking the right person can turn a bad moment into a good lesson.
